Malin Fischer (23) from Wiesbaden studied Environmental Engineering Sciences (B.Sc.) at the Technical University of Darmstadt with a focus on geoinformatics and spatial planning. There, her interest in remote sensing was sparked and she wrote her thesis about a multi-temporal crop classification method using radar data. This encouraged her to work as a research associate at Vista GmbH, a remote sensing company in Munich, focusing on smart farming applications and environmental modelling. By gaining practical experience in different fields like sustainable energy management, air monitoring and GIS, amongst others in Ethiopia, she realized the huge potential of remote sensing to tackle various environmental and societal challenges.

In order to contribute to that, she chose the EAGLE master program and wants to learn more about relevant tools and programming languages, possible applications as well as the science and technology behind. She enjoys working in an international and interdisciplinary environment as she thinks that sustainable and holistic solutions can only be developed by sharing diverse knowledge and perspectives.

In her spare time, she enjoys all kinds of sports and music, especially playing soccer and musical instruments, as well as travelling, reading and board games.
