Niklas Treichel

2024 EAGLE Student

Hi, I’m Niklas!

I grew up in a small village in northern Upper Franconia before moving to Thuringia for my studies. Later, I ended up in Würzburg, where I earned my bachelor’s degree in Surveying and Geoinformatics at the Technical University of Applied Sciences. Through a dual study program, I simultaneously gained practical experience in classical surveying.

During my bachelor’s, I was introduced to remote sensing, but I quickly realized how much more there is to explore. I’m particularly interested in tracking atmospheric gases and air pollution, a field that fascinates me due to its environmental significance. The broad scope and interdisciplinary nature of the EAGLE program, combined with the wonderful city of Würzburg – where I wasn’t quite ready to say goodbye – made it the perfect choice for continuing my studies.

Through EAGLE, I aim to strengthen my programming skills and deepen my knowledge in remote sensing. The program’s international environment also provides a great opportunity to refine my scientific presentation and collaboration skills.

Beyond academics, I’m passionate about floorball (unihockey) and chess, and I also enjoy cooking and music in my free time.
