Hanna Schulten
2024 EAGLE Student
Hello, I’m Hanna!
I grew up close to Bonn in a small town nestled between the Rhine River and the Seven Mountains range. In my free time I enjoy playing DnD or overly complicated board games with friends, baking, or getting lost in video games.
For my Bachelor’s, I moved to the capital city of Streuselbrötchens (a local sweet, baked snack), Aachen, where I studied Applied Geography with a minor in Geology.
Throughout and after my studies, I pursued all sorts of fun side quests in the form of internships and student jobs, expanding my horizon and applying remote sensing and GIS across different applications. One of these side quests took me to Dublin, Ireland, where I worked as a research intern on the Dead Sea Sinkholes and fell in love with remote sensing research. Joining the EAGLE Master’s program felt like the natural next step!
In the future, I hope to stay in research and contribute to make the world just the tiniest bit better. And if you ask me about my favorite satellite? Definitely Pleiades-NEO. Sure, acquiring the images is expensive, but the 0.3m resolution offers an unmatched level of detail – there’s just something special about being able to see individual sheep!
