Lena Jäger
2022 EAGLE Student
Lena comes from a village near the Lake of Constance in the South of Germany. To see what it’s like to live and learn in a bigger city, she moved to Hamburg to study Geography. Against her first expectations, she found herself most interested in the GIS and Remote Sensing courses offered. Eventually, she analyzed glacial lake changes with remote sensing in her bachelor thesis, as she really likes glaciers, glacial lakes and high mountain areas. To pursue this interest a little more, she also did an internship in the National park Berchtesgaden in the Bavarian Alps, where she learned a lot about high mountain ecosystems.
Now, Lena enjoys living Würzburg, studying the EAGLE Master, trying to absorb every information and learn as much as possible. In the future she hopes to use her knowledge and skills for something meaningful, such as finding ways to minimize and cope with the effects of climate change or answering pressing research questions.
In her free time Lena likes to socialize with friends, play the violin, go to the gym or simply go for a run or hike outdoors (if she has more time, preferably in the mountains).
