Magdalena Fischer
2021 EAGLE Student
Magdalena comes from the north of Germany, from Hamburg. She did her bachelor’s degree in geography in Münster. During the studies she focused on geoinformatics and got in touch with remote sensing and earth observation. Next to the courses in university, she gathered further experience doing an internship at the Earth Observation Center as part of DLR in Oberpfaffenhofen. Further research experiences she collected during an internship at the Norwegian Polar institute, where she also wrote her Bachelor Thesis. On the other side, she got to know how earth observation and remote sensing data can be used to integrate GeoIT-solutions in different companies to make them more efficient. This she learned working at con terra in Münster.
Having focused on remote sensing during her three years in Münster, she wanted to get more professional in this field and get to know a different city. The EAGLE program in Würzburg seemed like a fitting opportunity to her. Now she widens her horizon by studying all the different methods, concepts and data types of remote sensing and earth observation.
Besides her interest in remote sensing and space, she loves climbing and bouldering and the possibility to do it outdoors. She loves being surrounded by nature, going hiking or on canoe tours. But also enjoying a bonfire or a game evening with friends counts to the things she loves to be part of.
