Reagan Okoth
2020 EAGLE Student
Reagan is originally from Homa-Bay, a small village located at the shores of Lake Victoria in Western Kenya. He studied a BSc in Coastal and Marine Resource Management at Kenyatta University and later, a master’s in Marine and Lacustrine Science and Management from Universities of Ghent, Brussels and Antwerp in Belgium. During his studies to become a marine scientist, Reagan discovered that the global marine ecosystem is an integral part of the earth’s biogeochemical cycles, formed by a myriad of physical, chemical and biological processes, many of which, are not clearly understood. He strongly believes that the only chance there is to understand these complex ecosystems lies with the advent of satellite technology which permits routine survey and monitoring of the earth’s surface, especially the land-water nexus.
Away from the oceans and satellites, Reagan also LOVES to garden, play soccer, boulder, and enjoy nice cold beers with friends. He likes to take long directionless walks in the forests and sometimes taking up almost impossible biking route challenges from his friends.
